The airport is connected to Antalya city centre via the D400 road (Gazi Bulvan) and the journey takes approximately 20 minutes by car. Taxis can be hired from a rank outside of the Arrivals Hall, and the Havas Airport Shuttle Bus offers service to several of the city's major hotels as well as to the city centre. From the city of Antalya, transport along the surrounding coastline and into the countryside can be arranged, with the main destinations including Alanya, Korkuteli, Kumluca, Manavgat and Serik.

A modern airport and a relatively new addition to the aeronautical scene in Turkey, Antalya International Airport had struggled to meet demands until in the mid-1990s, a new international terminal was planned. The airport was transformed when it opened its terminal doors at the beginning of April 1998 and began attracting many significant airlines, serving around two million passengers that year.

By the year 2000, more than nine million people were flying in and out of Antalya Airport, which meant that the airport was listed amongst the 100 largest in the whole world. A second runway has recently been constructed and it is expected that future passenger numbers will soon top 17 million per annum. Antalya International Airport (AYT) is currently managed by the Fraport and IC Holding group.

Facilities at Antalya Airport are widespread and there are a wide range of shopping and duty-free options, in both the arrivals and departures areas. Popular shops sell designer clothes and sunglasses, jewellery, scarves and more. Particularly popular is Turkish Delight, a confectionary shop selling a range of traditional Turkish sweets, and there is even a Turkish Bazaar, perfect for that last-minute gift.

Antalya Airport is also home to several ATMs, a bureau de change, public telephones, information desks and a wide range of restaurants, cafés and bars, which are spread around check-in, the gate area and arrivals. There is everything here from American-style fast food to sandwiches, cappuccino and even cold beer, at the Carizou's Cafe and the Park Cafe.
