Antalya Airport (AYT)
Orientation and Maps
(Antalya, Turkey)
Capital of Turkey's Antalya Province, the city of Antalya has a total population approaching 700,000 people. With large numbers of visitors each summer, the overall population often rises to around two million or more at this time of the year, when the beaches can become crowded.
Much of the city has been sympathetically updated in an attempt to attract visitors and as a result, Antalya is a major tourist resort. The city of Antalya is sited at the top of a high cliff and features an old yacht harbour and a number of import historical ruins and cultural attractions.
Located on the eastern outskirts of the city of Antalya and handling approximately 25 million passengers each year, Antalya International Airport (AYT) is a relatively modern complex and first opened its doors in 1998.
Antalya International Airport (AYT) Maps: Important City Districts
One of the most appealing districts in the city is the Kaleici area, a historic part of the centre, which is brimming with accommodation, fine dining, shops and more. With narrow cobbled roads and local souvenir stores, the main highlight here is the renovated marina.
Those looking for sand and sun have many choices available, with Lara Beach and the Konyaalti Beach Park being especially popular. Plenty of nightclubs and lively bars can be found around Antalya's Beach Park. If historic ruins are more your thing you won't be disappointed, with the City Walls, the ancient Hadrian's Gate, the 13th-century Yivli Minare Mosque and the Antalya Museum all being worthy of attention.
